ABOUT
NALA

By fostering collaboration and networking opportunities, we strive to empower our members to promote diversity within the legal profession. Together, we will work towards enhancing representation and advocating for the interests of Asian lawyers in the North of England.

OUR
MISSION
.

OUR
VALUES
.

The Northern Asian Lawyers Association (NALA) was founded in 2026 to represent and support Asian and ethnic minority legal professionals across the North of England.

The first of its kind, NALA looks to engage all legal professionals in any stage of their career to provide a supportive and diverse environment.  Our aim is simple to unite the North of England whilst inspiring the next wave of lawyers. NALA will be hosting various events from networking, professional development and community-based initiatives.

Our events are inclusive and welcoming to all, bringing together lawyers, judges, academics and students from every community to celebrate the diversity and strength of our legal community.

Our mission is to support and promote Asian and minority ethnic lawyers in the North of England through:

  • Collaboration -  Providing professional development and creating an inclusive community where values are shared and encouraged.

  • Representation - Ensuring visibility and a collective voice within the legal profession.

  • Unity - Providing a space where all individuals can come together and be proud of their backgrounds.

  • Initiative - As a new association to the landscape, NALA will be starting up various schemes for professionals to engage in and promote across the North of England.

PROFESSIONAL
DEVELOPMENT
.

At NALA, we are passionate about inspiring young people from all backgrounds to consider a career in law.

Led by practising solicitors, barristers, and judges, our sessions help students understand what a career in law involves, the routes into the profession, and the importance of representation.

We aim to host a variety of events and seminars focused on career development, well-being, and inclusion.

THE NEXT
GENERATION
.

The NALA Committee members are passionate about their careers and want to provide the opportunity for the younger generation to come into the legal field.

NALA aims to be a focal point for those thinking about a career in law by providing opportunities to ask questions through networking events, work experience placements, mentors and a supportive environment for those from ethnic minority backgrounds to study and practise law.
